Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was injured in a crash on the Princes Freeway at Laverton on Wednesday.

Emergency services were called to the Princes Freeway, about one kilometre east of the Newlands Road exit, following reports that a motorcycle had crashed about 3.20pm.

The rider was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Westgate Highway Patrol officers are urging the driver of a black hatchback, missing its left-hand side mirror, to come forward.

“The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined but police would like to speak with the driver of a black hatchback, believed to have been in the area at the time of the incident,” a police spokesman said.

“It is understood the hatchback was missing its left-hand side mirror.

“Police strongly encourage the driver to come forward and assist investigators.”
