Woman arrested for driving into cop

A 32-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly driving into a policeman in Maribyrnong on Monday and then driving away from the scene.

A police officer was injured during the incident which occurred at the intersection of Thomas Holmes Drive and Gordon Street.

The detective sergeant received serious but non-life-threatening injuries during the incident and was treated in hospital but later released.

The woman, from Brookfield near Melton, was arrested in Altona Meadows last night and has been charged with assault police officer, conduct endangering life, intentionally cause injury and theft.

She has been remanded to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
