Wominjeka Festival returns to Footscray on Saturday, featuring some of Australia’s finest Indigenous talent.
The festival, which runs until January 21 at Footscray Community Arts Centre, opens with a free Wominjeka in Concert event featuring headline act Frank Yamma and emerging Indigenous talent from around the country.
The festival culminates in an intimate concert with Kutcha Edwards and Robbie Bundle.
Footscray’s Reverence Hotel will host the Little Wominjeka Klub after the festival opening as well as closing night events.
Other highlights include performances by the Bart Willoughby Band on January 14 and The Stray Blacks on January 21.
The festival includes painting and weaving exhibitions, healing sessions and circus workshops.
There will also be a school holiday arts program, theatre sessions and storytelling.
