Work has started on a new walking and cycling path along Harris Street in Yarraville.

Harris Street will be closed between Cowper Street and Whitehall Street until next March to accommodate the works, however pedestrian access will be maintained from the west end of Harris Street.

Once completed, the elevated path will link pathways along Hyde Street, Maribyrnong River, Shepherd Bridge and Footscray Road, eliminating the hazards of crossing at Whitehall Street.

The West Gate Tunnel Project team will also carry out some activity in Yarraville Gardens.

During this time, the dog park, sporting field, and picnic areas will still be available for use.

Signage will be in place to show an alternative path if garden access points are impacted by the works.

Construction activities will include trimming and vegetation management including some tree removal, and relocation of utilities along Harris and Whitehall Streets and in Hanmer Reserve.

Kindred Studios and Café will still be open throughout the works period.
