Works are now complete on one of the busiest intersections in Melbourne’s west.
The intersection at Buckley and Victoria Street in Seddon is now safer for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians thanks to a $1.4 million project delivered by the state government under their Road Safety Program.
Prior to the pandemic, more than 40,000 vehicles used the intersection daily.
Fully controlled right-hand turn lanes and signals have now been installed to
to make it easier for motorists to turn into Victoria Street and reduce the risk of collisions.
Green pavement treatment and LED signs warning road users to give way to pedestrians have been installed to further improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians
The road has also been resurfaced, with pedestrian crossings improved and the east-bound bike lane on Buckley Street extended.
Roads and road safety minister Ben Carroll the Buckley and Victoria Street intersection was one of the most important in the western suburbs.
“This investment in safety and ease of use will ensure it stays that way.”
