Wyndham Vale man charged over Altona North shooting

A 53-year-old Wyndham Vale man has been charged in relation to an alleged shooting in Altona North last week.

Armed Crime Squad detectives seized a shotgun, pen pistol, Taser and shotgun ammunition during a raid at a Marne Avenue address yesterday.

Police charged the man with a number of offences, including attempted murder and possessing a firearm.

The charges relate to an alleged shooting in Altona North on May 19. Police became aware of the incident after the 25-year-old male victim, from Point Cook, attended a hospital with a gunshot wound about 1am on 20 May.

The man fronted Melbourne Magistrate’s Court overnight where he was remanded in custody to reappear on Friday.
