Yarraville church community expresses its grief

Yarraville’s Pilgrim Uniting Church community has commemorated The Queen in a special way.

Pilgrim Uniting Church Yarraville minister Reverend Ikani Vaitohi said the congregation had decided to adorn the church’s entrance with a photo and a place for members to leave their messages and flowers.

“This is a very significant event,” he said.

“The Queen played a very important role.

“It is our way of acknowledging that.”

Rev Vaitohi said the church aimed to reflect the feelings of the community.

“We are very much a part of the community,” he said.

“We play our part in the community at large.

“Community is important to us.”
