Yarraville Community Centre is reconnecting the local community with their Chatty Café

The Yarraville Community Centre (YCC) is encouraging social connections reducing loneliness through their Chatty Café.

An Australian charity, the Chatty Café Scheme encourages all sorts of venues across Australia such as cafes, restaurants, clubs, pubs and to provide a Chatty table where people can come and have a chat with others.

The YCC holds this free community group meeting every Wednesday from 10am – 111am to chat about anything and everything from gardening tips to movie recommendations.

Since restrictions in Melbourne are easing, the community centre’s main focus is on reconnecting people to the community.

Due to restrictions, sessions are continuing online but the community centre hopes to move to in-person sessions when it’s possible.
