Yarraville woman charged with murder

Homicide Squad detectives have charged a 21-year-old Yarraville woman with murder following a fatal shooting in Fitzroy on Tuesday, July 12.

Homicide Squad detectives charged a 21-year-old Yarraville woman with murder on Thursday, July 14, as part of an investigation into a fatal shooting in Fitzroy on Tuesday, July 12.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said detectives arrested and charged the Yarraville woman and a 43-year-old Noble Park man and the pair would face Melbourne Magistrates Court today (Friday, July 15).

“They were arrested about 5.30pm in Noble Park yesterday evening (Thursday, July 14) with the assistance of the Special Operations Group,” the spokesperson said.

“The charges follow an incident in Fitzroy on Tuesday afternoon when a 55-year-old Fitzroy man was fatally shot.”

A Victoria Police spokesperson said emergency services were called after a man was located in the street on Napier Street with life-threatening injuries about 4.15pm on Tuesday, July 12.

“It’s believed the man was involved in an altercation with a number of people at a vehicle parked on Brunswick Street before being fatally shot,” the spokesperson said.

“Passers by located the man and subsequently called triple-0.”
