BULLDOGS young gun Jackson Macrae has been named this week’s AFL Rising Star, receiving the accolade in just his fourth game for the Western Bulldogs.
Macrae — who was drafted from the Oakleigh Chargers with pick six in last year’s draft — got the nomination for his strong game against Gold Coast on Sunday, albeit in a losing side.
The speedy midfielder picked up 26 touches and made four tackles in the loss to the Suns, with Bulldogs coach Brendan McCartney saying he has all the attributes to become an elite AFL footballer.
Speaking to TWR last year, the level headed 18-year-old said he was constantly trying to improve his game and was looking forward to testing himself against the best in the game.
Macrae joins recent nominees Nick Vlastuin, Bradley Hill and Jaeger O’Meara in the race for the Rising Star award.
