ALTONA Magic failed to find a resolution to its recent woes on a week’s break from the Football Federation Victoria men’s state league 1.
The Magic returned to the pitch on Sunday and suffered a similar fate to its three games before the Queen’s Birthday break.
They were soundly beaten 2-0 on the road at Sunshine George Cross and tumbled to ninth on the ladder.
Only five weeks ago, the Magic was sitting pretty in third spot on the ladder.
The Magic will be hoping to recapture its spark when it hosts St Albans Saints at Paisley Park on Sunday.
In state league 2, Altona East Phoenix is lurking dangerously close to the relegation positions with just six points from nine games.
The Phoenix lost 2-1 to Brunswick City and has gone without a win since April.
In state league 4, Williamstown moved into the top five with a 3-2 win over Western Eagles at Gray Reserve.
Maribyrnong Greens fell into the bottom two after copping a 3-0 belting from Corio.
There were goals aplenty in the state league 5 match between Laverton Park and Sebastopol Vikings, but points were shared in a 3-3 draw.
Declan Martin scored a double for Laverton on its trip to St Georges Reserve.
One goal was all Altona North needed to beat Greenvale United at Duane Reserve.
