ALTONA North slipped to its fourth successive defeat with a 3-1 loss at home to Point Cook.
Both sides were lively in an end to end start, but North conceded a soft goal after 30 minutes.
On the back of a run of poor form, North allowed Point Cook to take control with two further goals before half-time.
After the break, North played with greater purpose and pulled one back through Josh Davies after 55 minutes.
Despite a good team effort in the second 45 minutes, no more goals saw North continue its bad patch.
The reserves drew 2-2 to stay at the top of the ladder, with a season-defining clash looming with Melton Phoenix in three weeks.
Altona North will play Sunshine Heights West Tigers this week.
