VSDCA: Williamstown close to regaining winning habit

Williamstown’s resurgence in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association looks set to continue after the Seagulls made an imposing 9-239 on day one against Mount Waverley at the Williamstown Cricket Ground on Saturday.

Improved batting has seen the Seagulls win two of their past three matches after going winless in the opening five rounds.

Against Mount Waverley, Nathan Hall top-scored for the Seagulls with 50 from the middle order, his first half century of the summer, with valuable contributions also coming from Jonty Paulsen (44), Matthew Inness (33) and Nathan Bratby (30).

Yarraville could manage only a go-slow 8-181 off its 80 overs away against Noble Park at the Pat Wright Snr Oval.

There were plenty of starts for the Eagles but no game-breaking efforts. Tim McRae filed a team-best 38no.

Altona faces a monumental task if it is to eclipse Box Hill’s 3-285.

The A’s had no answer to Box Hill duo Paul Gloury (127no) and Aaron Walter (86no).
