Known for having the strongest junior teams in the state in the early 1990s, Altona Magic Soccer Club is looking for new recruits.
Assistant secretary Andrew Simpson said the club, which had been a training ground for Socceroos players, had vacancies in the under-9s to under-16s age groups.
“There’s been quite a number of players that have gone through our club over the years – especially in the ’90s, there was a bucketload of players – who ended up playing for the Socceroos.’’
These include John Markovski, Nick Kalmar and Robert Trajkovski.
The club has won five championships and produced many Australian internationals.
