Altona is into the top four in Bowls Victoria weekend pennant premier division after defeating Bundoora on Friday.
Altona was far better than their opposition throughout the night clash, winning 80 (16)-57 (2). Bundoora’s cause wasn’t helped by a couple of late outs due to flight issues.
Hayley O’Reilly’s rink narrowly won 15-14, Brooke Edwards’ rink won 25-7 and Paul Hinneberg’s rink were 21-15 victors, while Jayden Wombell’s rink lost 21-19.
Altona is now fourth on equal points as Melbourne but are lower on score percentage at 100.68 per cent to Melbourne’s 103.65 per cent.
In the final round before Christmas, Altona will play fifth placed Clayton on Saturday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Yarraville Footscray lost once again, this time being beaten convincingly by Moonee Valley, 91 (18)-66 (0).
James Gonera’s rink lost 23-19, Michael Galakos’ rink went down 24-12, James Banks’ rink was defeated 26-18, while Brandon Anderson’s rink narrowly went down 18-17.
The task for Yarraville Footscray to search for its second win of the season doesn’t get easier next week with the team set to face ladder leaders Deer Park on Friday night.
Altona 2’s clash in division 1, section 1, against Aberfeldie was called off due to the rain.
While Yarraville Footscray’s second’s team lost to Glenroy 88 (18)- 59 (0) in the same section. Gou Engebretsen’s rink suffered the biggest loss at 28-13.
