It could be the six pack that busts open the Football Federation Victoria men’s state league 1 title race once and for all.

Altona Magic moved eight points clear at the top of the ladder with a 6-0 annihilation of North Sunshine Eagles at Larissa Reserve on Saturday.

That prompted some to ask: Who is going to catch the Magic now?

The Magic led 1-0 at half-time, but piled on an incredible five unanswered goals after the break.

The Magic goals were spread around, with Jon McShane, Melvin Becket, Adamson Ajayi, Kliment Dimitrieski, Jason Hayne and Nikola Markovski getting on the scoreboard.

The Magic goes into Saturday’s clash with Paisley Park co-tenant Altona East Phoenix on the back of a four-game winning streak.

Yarraville Glory’s form reversal was fleeting as it was beaten 3-0 by Geelong at Stead Park.

The Glory remains a little too close for comfort to the relegation zone, just four points clear of second-last Altona East Phoenix.

Altona City continues to deliver the goods in men’s state league 2, but remains a point behind top side Hoppers Crossing.

City thrashed Essendon United 5-0 at Kim Reserve on Saturday night, with Ayodeji Omoboye leading the way with a double.

City is on a three-game winning streak, in which it has scored 16 goals and conceded one.

Williamstown regained its touch in a 3-0 win over second-placed Whittlesea United at Thomas Street Reserve. Bobby Lojanica was the talk of the Blues after firing in a double.

The Blues are suddenly back in the promotion hunt after that massive road win.

Melbourne City faces a near impossible task to survive in the division with just one point from 13 games. City was dismantled 5-0 by Epping City away at Duffy Street Reserve.

Altona North has continued its rise up the men’s state league 4 ladder with a third win in four games. North knocked off third-placed Bell Park 1-0 at Duane Reserve.

Laverton Park was a comfortable 4-1 winner over Spring Hills in the men’s state league 5 top-of-the-ladder clash, while Maribyrnong Greens beat Maidstone United 2-0 in the derby at Scovell Reserve.

In women’s state league 2, Maribyrnong Swifts upset ladder leader South Melbourne 2-1 at Johnson Reserve, after goals to Elena Pereyra and Alana Dargham. The Swifts are now just three points off the summit.

Yarraville Glory had a resounding 3-0 win over La Trobe University after Sarah Lovett scored a double. Maidstone United beat Watsonia Heights by the same scoreline after a double to Linda Marchetti.
