Altona Magic maintains its buffer at top

Altona Magic has left points on the table for the first time this season in Football Federation Victoria’s state league 1.

The Magic went into the clash with second-placed Sydenham Park with a maximum 18 points from six games.

They played out an entertaining 3-3 draw, ensuring Magic kept its six-point lead.

Magic came from a goal down at half-time to secure a point with a double by Adamson Ajayi and a goal to Jon McShane.

In the derby, Altona East Phoenix and Yarraville Glory drew 2-2 at Paisley Park.

The Phoenix is just two points clear of the relegation zone, while the Glory is comfortably in mid-table.

Newly promoted Altona City still has some way to go in adjusting to life in state league 2.

City suffered a 2-1 loss to Hume United, which leaves it third-last on the ladder.

Williamstown is the talk of state league 3, rocketing to the top of the ladder with a 4-0 annihilation of Darebin United. Stefan Dimeski scored twice.

Melbourne City tumbled to sixth with a 3-1 home defeat to Geelong Rangers.

Altona North’s misery continued in state league 4 with a 7-1 whipping from Bell Park.

Maribyrnong Greens were gutsy in a 1-0 loss to ladder-leader Brimbank Stallions but remains stuck at the foot of the table.

In the women’s leagues, Yarraville Glory suffered its first loss of the state league 2 season, going down 1-0 to Templestowe United.

Altona Magic retained first place in state league 3 with a 5-1 drubbing of Keilor Park.

Jessica Kantarovski scored a double for the Magic, taking her season tally to an incredible 10 in four games.

Maidstone United enjoyed a 6-1 feast over Kings Domain with Amanda Kezovska scoring twice to make it five goals in two games.
