Altona Magic under a dark spell

May has been mayhem for Altona Magic who have lost all three of their games this month to fall out of the top six.

Of most concern for the Magic is their terrible defensive record across those three games.

They have conceded 10 goals in their past three outings, including four in a half to Pascoe Vale in Friday night’s 5-2 loss at CB Smith Reserve.

Goals from Lirim Elmazi and David Trajanoski were not enough.

In the state leagues, Altona East Phoenix had a 1-1 draw with Hume United in state league 2.

Williamstown drew 2-2 with Western Eagles in state league 3.

Altona North is three points clear on top of state league 4 after a 3-1 victory over Spring Hills.

Barnstoneworth United is in the state league 5 title hunt, but its progress was halted by a 1-0 loss to Maidstone United.

In women’s league action, Maribyrnong Swifts Silvers were on the wrong end of a 5-0 shellacking in state league 2.

Altona City flexed its muscle in state league 3 with a 9-2 trouncing of Rowville Eagles. In the same league, Altona Magic toppled Maidstone United 2-1.

Barnstoneworth United cruised to a 7-0 win over Maribyrnong Swifts Lightning in state league 4.
