Altona North obtained a valuable point from a difficult away trip to Truganina Hornets in Football Federation Victoria men’s state league 4 west at Arndell Park Reserve on Saturday.
North made the most of its early pressure to take the lead through Tony Saric, but the joy was short-lived.

In the second half, Truganina went down to 10 men after captain Federico Rossini was given a red card, but Altona North could not make its numerical advantage count.
North is undefeated with two wins and three draws after five rounds.
It will host Laverton at Duane Reserve on Saturday.
Laverton downed Surf Coast 2-1 on the back of goals to Daniel Taylor and Alejandro Martinez.

In state league 5, Maidstone United was no match for high flying Gisborne, beaten 3-1, while Maribyrnong Greens were rolled 2-1 by Melbourne Lions.
In women’s state league 2, Maidstone United came back from two goals down at half-time to upend Yarra Jets 3-2.
Jacquelene Ghirxi was the star for United with a hat-trick.
