Bowls

Altona finished its Bowls Victoria premier division weekend pennant season with a win against Yarraville Footscray on Saturday. Altona won just one rink but it was enough to secure the 80 (13)-74 (5) win. Nathan Wilson was the winning rink for Altona, which finished the season in sixth. Yarraville Footscray finished the season in fifth spot, 12 points behind fourth placed Melbourne.

NAB League

The Western Jets have taken their winning streak to six games in the NAB League Girls competition. Facing the Calder Cannons on Thursday night, the Jets kicked away in the second half to seal the 5.10 (40)3.5 (23) win. Kiera Leare kicked two goals in the win. Charlotte Baskaran and Montana Ham had 25 and 23 possessions respectively. The Jets sit second on the ladder.

NPL

Altona Magic got their first win of the National Premier League season on Saturday night against the Dandenong Thunder. Neither side could score in the first half, with the Magic breaking through in the 47th minute through Robert Harding. The score would be doubled 10 minutes later through Tommy Semmy. That 10 minute burst would be enough to get the 2-0 win. The Magic this week face Oakleigh Cannons on Saturday night.

Australia Cup

Local teams from across the north-west will get the opportunity to test themselves against some of the powerhouses from across the state in the fourth round of the Australia Cup. Teams from as low as state league 5 are still in the draw and will be joined by teams from all three National Premier League competitions. Among the matches are, Williamstown against Whittlesea United, Altona East Phoenix is set to face Mornington, Altona Magic will take on Bentleigh United Cobras, Northcote will host Yarraville Glory and Altona City will take on Springvale White Eagles.
