Altona North has added another new signing for the back part of the Victorian Turf Cricket Association senior division competition. The club announced that Matt Waite would join the club for the rest of the season fresh of a Metrobank One Day Cup Championship, bringing with him strong experience and all-round quality. Waite has scored almost 200 runs while taking 122 wickets across 50 games. Adding to his resume, Waite holds a remarkable Vitality Blast feat, smashing 34 runs off a single over. Meanwhile, Altona North has already conceded first innings points against St Albans.

Yarraville Seddon has further strengthened its squad with the signing of Zachary O’Halloran for the Western Football League division 1 season. O’Halloran is a team of the decade player at St Bernards in the Victorian Amatuer Football Association, having more recently played with Lancefield and Werribee Centrals. The ruck-forward will play his 200th game in his first game for the Eagles.

Hockey

It was a big end to 2025 for Altona Hockey trio Cooper Burns, Connar Otterbach and Nye Roberts. The trio were part of HC Melbourne premiership side in the Hockey One competition. Melbourne beat the Tassie Tigers, 3-1, in the grand final to make it back-to-back titles. Burns and Otterbach were then named in the Australian men’s national high performance program. Roberts has been named in the senior performance program, which is one tier below the national high performance squad.
