AFL

There was no joy for the Western Jets in the AFL draft last week. Several Jets players were hoping to find their way onto lists, but none of their names were called out in the national draft on Monday and Tuesday. The rookie draft was then held on Wednesday, but Jets players were again overlooked. No players from Williamstown and Footscray’s Victorian Football League sides were selected either. Darley’s Aaron Cadman was taken at pick one in the national draft.

WRFL

Braybrook has added some young talent to its list for next year’s Western Region Football League division 2 season. Jackson Emery, David Said, Ryan Buckley, Joel Taylor and Rewiri Tuhi join the Brookers from St Albans. All played in the under-18s, while making a few appearances in the seniors and reserves sides. The Brookers will play in division 2 after winning the division 3 premiership this year.

WNBL

Cross-code sports star Monique Conti is back on the basketball court. After stepping away from the Women’s National Basketball League due to her AFLW commitments, the Southside Flyers have announced they’ve signed Conti for the rest of the WNBL season. Conti has previously played for the Flyers and the Melbourne Boomers. Conti previously represented Australia at under-17 level in basketball and she continued to play this year in the National Basketball League 1 South competition.

A-League

Western United will be back in action on Saturday night in the A-League men’s competition. After a competition wide break due to the world cup, the competition resumes this weekend. United travels to Perth to face Perth Glory on Saturday night, 10.30pm Victorian time. United sits 11th on the table after six rounds, only above the Glory.
