West Footscray has added some more fire power up forward for this year’s Western Region Football League division 3 season. Matthew Turcinovich joins the club from Braybrook, where he spent the last two seasons. Turcinovich kicked 50 goals for the Brookers in the club’s 2022 premiership side and was also named in the team of the year. Matthew Grubb is also making the move from Braybrook to West Footscray.

A-League

Western United academy goalkeeper Mayan Mayan has been called up to the South Sudan squad for the upcoming U20 African Cup of Nations in Egypt. Mayen will join the squad in camp ahead of the tournament’s commencement on February 19. Western United academy director Anthony Frost said the call-up to a major youth international tournament was a significant milestone and one that would boost both Mayen and the Academy in the future.

A grand final spot was on the line for Spotswood in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association T20 competition on Tuesday night after deadline. Having won through to the semi finals, the Woodsmen had to wait a week to find out their opposition with two matches postponed due to rain. The Woodsmen will face Brighton in one semi final, while Preston will host Endeavour Hills in the other semi final. For results, head to www.starweekly.com.au.

The Altona Falcons men’s premier side finished the regular Victoria Men’s and Mixed Netball Association season with a loss. The Falcons were beaten by the Netblacks, 70-55. The Falcons finish the regular season in fourth spot, which was guaranteed before the loss. The Falcons premier mixed side, which finished the regular season in third spot, had a 68-54 win against the NNE Vipers in the final round.
