Altona Magic suffered a disappointing loss to Hume City in the National Premier League on Saturday night. Hume scored twice in the first half to take the ascendancy, before sealing the win with about 10 minutes to go, winning 3-0. The loss has the Magic sitting in ninth spot. This week they host Green Gully on Saturday night.

FV

It was a tough weekend for Yarraville Glory and Altona City in the FV state league 1 north-west competition. Facing two of the top sides, both teams suffered losses. The Glory lost to Banyule City, 3-0, while Altona City lost to the Brimbank Stallions, 1-0. In state league 2 north-west, Altona East Phoenix lost to Westgate, while in state league 3 north-west Altona North beat Sunbury United and Williamstown beat Craigieburn City, 3-2.

Big V

It was a tough weekend for the Altona Gators in the Big V division 2 competitions. The Gators women’s side lost their first match of the season against the Mornington Breakers. In a close match all night, the Breakers won 63-60 against an understrength Gators side which had just six players. The Gators sit second on the ladder. The men’s side lost to the Sherbrooke Suns, 88-71. The Gators led at half time by one point, before the Suns found another gear in the second half.

VFL

Williamstown lost a low scoring thriller to the Brisbane Lions in the Victorian Football League on Saturday. Not much separated the two teams all day, with the Lions getting over the line, 6.8 (44)-5.12 (42). Darby Henderson kicked two goals for the Seagulls, while Liam Hunt led the disposals with 20. In the VFLW, the Seagulls lost to Geelong, 8.4 (52)-2.5 (17). Ella Baxter led the way with 17 disposals.
