Big V

The Altona Gators had a big win against the Sherbrooke Suns in the Big V men’s division 2 competition on Saturday night. The Gators jumped out of the blocks with a 33-20 first quarter which set the tone for the match. The Gators ended up winning 104-87. Adam Anderson top scored with 28 points, as all five starters reached double figures. The Gators women just fell short in division 1, losing 73-69 to the Bellarine Storm with the game going to overtime. Jordan Wilson top scored for the Gators with 20 points.

NPL

Altona Magic had a night to forget on Friday in the National Premier League against the Melbourne Knights. The Knights hit the front in the seventh minute before doubling the lead in the 76th minute and making it 3-0 five minutes later. The Knights got a consolation goal through a penalty, but it wasn’t enough.

FV

Yarraville Glory had to settle for a draw against Upfield on Friday night in the FV state league 1 north-west. Searching for its first win of the season, neither team could find the back of the net in the 0-0 draw. Altona City suffered a 4-2 loss to Sydenham Park on Saturday. The score was 2-1 at half time, before the Reds scored two goals to take control of the game. Altona City scored a consolation goal late to make the score line 4-2.

Coates Talent League

It was a tough start to the season for the Western Jets in the Coates Talent League Boys competition on Saturday. Facing the Sydney Swans Academy side, the Jets started well and were in front by five points at quarter time. The Swans hit the second quarter, before the Jets made the most of the wind in the third quarter to lead by 14 points at the last break. Seven final quarter goals gave the Swans a 13.16 (94)-10.7 (67) win. Daniel Snell and Lucas Impey were the Jets best.
