Yarraville Club is setting a cracking pace in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association senior division.
The Clubbers, defending champions, have opened up a nine-point gap over the rest of the competition just four rounds in.
They gave newly promoted Seddon a top-flight lesson in a 146-run first innings drubbing at Hanmer Reserve on Saturday.
Yarraville Club had the upper hand after blasting 6-288 off 63 overs.
Konrad Kurta maintained the rage on the west’s bowlers with 101 – a game after his double ton against Tullamarine.
Clubbers captain Andrew Cullen is in similar form. He made 51 to take his aggregate to 281 at an average of 93.7.
After a top order collapse, the Dockers could only muster 142 in 31.2 overs. The Dockers were 5-11 before Tim Moses (26), Raja Sandhu (47), Hayden Dryiski (25) and Mark Webb (20) added some respectability.
Hussain Hanif produced his best spell of the season with 4-16 off eight, while Will Sheridan was busy in the field with three catches.
Sheridan (54) and Johnathon Blake (52 not out) were the stand-outs in Yarraville Club’s second innings, which finished on 3-143.
Spotswood is riding high after cruising to a 120-run first innings win over Tullamarine at Leo Dineen Reserve. Ross Horkings was superb for the Woodsmen with a patient 101 not out.
In north-west division, Laverton has broken through for its first win, poleaxing Airport West-St Christophers by 106 runs at Etzel Street Reserve. Dallas Treherne had a game to remember with 109 in the Magpies’ 4-246.
Airport West-St Christophers was bowled out for 140 with Skand Vohra snaring 4-27 and Edward Bird taking 3-36. Laverton was 6-50 in the second innings at the close of play.
Altona North is the only unbeaten team in the division after beating Sunshine United by 73 runs at Selwyn Park.
North posted 9-219, led by 80 from Matthew Frydas and a late 46 from captain Haydn Wilkinson. United was bowled out for 146 with Domenic Di Guglielmo (3-21) and Buddhi Samarawickrama (3-30) the executioners.
In north-west A1, Tharanga Indika was the match-winner with 108 not out for Altona Roosters in a hard-fought 19-run win over Westmeadows at Willowbrook Reserve.
In west A1, Gellibrand romped to a 106-run win over Williamstown Colts at Greenwich Reserve, thanks largely to 137 from Parambir Singh and 4-37 from Brayden Macdonald.
Williamstown Congs had an even team performance in a 67-run victory over Melton Centrals at Blackwood Reserve.
In north west B1, Newport-Digman beat West Newport in fine style by 58 runs at Bryan Martyn Oval, Matthew Mason leading the charge with 7-21 and 46 not out.
Williamstown Imperials eclipsed Sunshine Heights by 13 runs in a low-scoring game, while Ben Gorton scored 94 not out for Williamstown CYMS in a 178-run thrashing of Maribyrnong Park-St Marys.
