Riddell Bombers blow away Rupertswood

Riddell again showed why they it’s one of the premiership favourites in the Riddell District Netball League with a massive win over Rupertswood on Saturday.

Neither team had lost a match entering the game with only the Sharks’ draw against Romsey when the game was abandoned in the third quarter because of rain separating the teams on the ladder.

The Bombers jumped out of the blocks and led by 12 goals at quarter-time.

They managed to extend the lead in every quarter and handed the Sharks a massive thumping, winning 65-30.

Mikaela Vaughan shot 34 goals and Christine Harris scored 31 for the Bombers.

Ailish McCormack was best for the Sharks.

Romsey jumped to third on the ladder with a 68-21 win over Sunbury Kangaroos.

The Kangaroos stuck with the Redbacks in the first quarter but then struggled to match it with the more experienced line-up.

After quarter-time the Redbacks outscored the Kangaroos 55-12.

Hope Evans again dominated under the ring for the Redbacks scoring 62 of her side’s goals.

Evans has scored, 62, 59 and 60 goals in her last three games and has racked up the most in the competition.

Soli Ropati was best on court.

First win for Hawks

Woodend Hesket got its first win of the season as all four Hawks sides managed victories.

But Rockbank, coming off its first win since 2013, didn’t make it easy for the Hawks pushing them the whole way.

The Hawks won 40-35. Georgia O’Loughlin was best on court, shooting 23 goals.
