Braybrook has appointed Charlie Fenech as coach for their women’s side for next year’s Western Region Football League season.
The club announced that the experienced Fenech would join the club, as they help to further develop their women’s program.
The club’s senior women’s side currently plays in a combined team with Albanvale, with neither side having enough players for a full side.
The side plays in the division 2 competition.
“We don’t know where to start with Charlie, he has an unbelievable football resume, having been involved as a player and a coach at junior and senior levels for over 50 years in the EDFL [Essendon District Football League], VAFA [Victorian Amateur Football League] and EFL [Eastern Football League],” the club said in its announcement.
“Charlie brings a wealth of football coaching experience and knowledge to our senior women’s program.
“Charlie was most recently senior women’s coach at Maribyrnong Park Football Club from 2019–2021 and guided them to a grand final in their inaugural year.
“Charlie was also EDFL coach of the year in the Airport Toyota women’s premier division in 2021.”
Fenech said he was keen to help Braybrook field a team in the competition once again.
“The playing group will be hungry for success, I’m sure,” he said.
“I look forward to getting to know the playing group and welcoming any new players over the off season as the work begins to prepare for the 2023 season.”
