The Western Bulldogs have continued on their winning streak, taking home a 12-point win against Geelong on the weekend.
Although off to a quiet start, the Dogs picked up the pace in the second quarter and were able to hang on to a 3.10 (28) to 2.4 (16).
Although both the Dogs and the Cats kept each other goalless in the first term, a quick goal from Bonnie Toogood in the second quarter finally put them on the scoreboard.
Elisabeth Georgostathis followed suit with another goal for the Dogs not long after, in what would turn out to be an excellent game from the midfielder.
Georgostathis presence throughout the ground was clear with 23 disposals, 13 marks and six tackles to go along with her one goal.
By the third quarter the Cats were still yet to score a goal. Bonnie Toogood continued her impressive form, snagging another major for the girls.
The Cats forward line finally made some impact in the last quarter, but it was too little too late for the Dogs who had already set themselves up with a comfortable lead.
In a post-match interview on the Bulldogs website, Georgostathis admitted the Dogs first quarter performance was scrappy.
“Burkey (Nathan Burke) gave us a little rant at quarter time and we stepped it up after quarter time and provided for the last three quarters which is good,” she said.
“I’m pretty confident [about] my game tonight, I think I just went in with a different mindset.”
“Obviously I had the great support of the rest of the girls around me to help me through that, so I can’t thank them enough as well.”
The Dogs will look to make it four wins in a row when they take on Collingwood at Victoria Park on Sunday February 27.
