Bulldogs continue on

Footscray’s good form has continued with the side on top after day one of its clash with Richmond in Victorian Premier Cricket.

Coming off their best performance of the season with the bat, the Bulldogs got made to bowl first at Mervyn Hughes Oval.

Richmond lost early wickets and were in trouble at 8-69. The Tigers’ tail was able to wag, nearly doubling their score with the final wicket.

The Tigers were eventually bowled out for 162 in the 82nd over. Reiley Mark, who came in at number 10, top scored with 54.

For the Bulldogs, Umair Butt top took 4-28 off his 15 overs. Jake Reed and Max Birthisel, who returned to the side, also took multiple wickets.

The Bulldogs had to face nine overs at the end of the day. They will resume at 0-14.

Daniel Sartori, who is celebrating his 250th XI premier game, will resume on 12 not out, while Dylan Brasher will resume on two.

Meanwhile the Bulldogs under-17 Dowling Shield side finished their campaign on Sunday.

The Bulldogs struggled at times in the competition, with four players missing games due to state duty.

On Sunday they finished their campaign with a win against Frankston Peninsula.

An Aayan Nadeem century was the key to the Bulldogs innings, as they made 6-284 from their 50 overs.

Frankston Peninsula was bowled out for 127 in the 44th over.

Aditya Barot took 4-16 off his 10 overs.

The Bulldogs finished the competition with two wins.
