Footscray will enter the Victorian Premier Cricket finals on the back of a solid win against Northcote.

Having already secured their finals spot heading into the final round, the Bulldogs were looking for a good all round performance on Saturday.

Northcote were bowled out for 184 with four balls remaining. Joshua Sundberg top scored with 50, while Jonty Rushton scored 34 at the top of the order.

In a bowling attack without star Jake Reed, it was Ashley Armstrong who stood strong, taking 4-32 off 9.2 overs.

Jay Vine and Tim Hughes took two wickets each.

The Bulldogs started well before losing both openers when the score was on 58. They would steady and despite losing another three wickets, would get the runs in the third last over.

The Bulldogs finished 5-190.

Dean Russ held the middle order together, scoring 78 not out.

The win sees the Bulldogs finish fifth spot with nine wins.

They will face Essendon in an elimination final on Saturday, with the semi finals being played the next day.

All four Bulldogs teams have made finals.

It was a big week for a couple of Footscray young guns, who were named in squads for the under-19 national championships

Max Birthisel has been named in the Vic Metro squad, while James Doherty was named in the Vic Country squad.

The national championships will be held in Mackay in April.
