Former National Premier League star Marijan Cvitkovic is returning to Altona City for this year’s FV state league 1 north-west season.
Altona City last week announced that Cvitkovic, who has two previous stints at the club would be back on the field at Kim Reserve this season.
Cvitkovic spent four years at the club as a junior, before returning in 2004 and was part of the club’s state 2 promotion winning side in 2005.
Since then he has dominated in the Victorian Premier League and later National Premier League.
He won the goal medal in 2013 for the best player in the competition and spent eight seasons at Melbourne Knights.
He captained them for seven years, scoring 44 goals in 158 games.
“It’s a beautiful feeling being back where it all started,” he told the club’s social media. “I’m very grateful and happy.
“Everyone’s been so friendly and the playing group has been great. I’m really enjoying it.”
Joining Cvitkovic at Altona City is former NPL goalkeeper Dami Salcin.
Salcin spent more than a decade in VPL and NPL, playing for Dandenong City, Melbourne Knights and St Albans.
Clinton Garley was the third former NPL player signing announced last week.
Garley spent last season at Werribee City.
Meanwhile, Altona City is through to the next round of the Australia Cup competition.
The club was set to face Surf Coast in the third round, but Surf Coast forfeited in the week leading up to the game.
