Needing a win to keep in touch with the top six, the Eagles faced bottom side Melton, which was keen to get its first win for the season.
The Lions batted first and looked on track for a decent score.
Melton was 6-148 before losing their last four wickets for not much to be bowled out for 153. Four of the last five batters were out for ducks.
Conrad Farrugia was the expectation, top scoring with 31
Josh Hahnel and Aditya Barot took three wickets each.
Hahnel then did the damage with the bat, making 93 not out as his side finished 4-155.
They hit the winning runs with more than six overs remaining.

In other results, Altona got home with the points against Preston.
Preston made 9-165 from its overs, with Altona finishing 5-166 in reply with nearly three overs remaining.
Skipper Ben Davies top scored with 72.

Williamstown got a much needed win against Ivanhoe.
Matthew Dervan made 89 not out as the Seagulls made 7-213. They were then able to restrict Ivanhoe to 158.
The Seagulls sit 10th on the table.
Ladder leaders Spotswood also enter the Christmas break on the back of a win, beating Coburg.
The Woodsmen made 9-244 with Jarrod Martignago top scoring with 77. Coburg was then bowled out for 148.
