The City West Falcons sealed their finals spot in the Victorian Netball League championship division with a big win against Ariels on Wednesday night.
The win, while not one of the Falcons best, was enough to ensure a top four finish with two rounds remaining.
They currently sit in second spot
Lind said they were thrilled with where the club sits at this point of the season.
“In division 1 and championship we can’t go out of the finals,” he said. “The under-19s would have to win their last two games to not play finals.
“One of our KPIs, [key performance indicators] is to have all three teams playing finals and we look like we will achieve that, so we’re pretty happy.
“It’s been hard work and we’ve come a long way from early in the season.”
On Wednesday against the Ariels, the scoreboard showed a convincing 70-45 win.
Lind was happy, knowing they still have more work to do.
“I wouldn’t say it’s our best performance in all three grades, but we got the wins,” she said.
“Ariels were a bit harder to play against than I expected. Milly Brock couldn’t miss.
“In champ we rotated a fair bit, which was a bit of disruption. We got to have a look at everyone and everyone got some good court time.”
Lind said Montana Holmes in the midcourt and Zoe Davies in goal defence were their best two players.
One player to take the court was Peta Fay. The premiership winning defender has returned to the club in recent months.
Lind said Fay had returned to Melbourne and had asked if she could come down and train.
“She trained and we decided to get her back playing as well,” she said.
“She played five to 10 minutes in each quarter on Wednesday. It’s nice to have another experienced defender we can call on.”
In division 1, the Falcons won 57-43, while the under-19s also had a big win, beating the Ariels 63-44.
The Falcons this week face Melbourne University. The Lightning sit in third spot, behind the Falcons in championship division.
A win for the Falcons would seal a top two spot and the double chance.
