Williamstown continued its strong run of form in the Victorian Football League as its accounted for Geelong on Sunday.
The Seagulls were at home in a big double header with both their women’s and men’s sides claiming wins.
In the afternoon game, the Seagulls were too strong for the Cats, 10.14 ()74)-6.12 (48).
The Seagulls jumped out to a 26 point lead at the first break before the Cats reduced the margin to 15 points at half time after using the wind.
The margin stayed fairly steady in the third quarter with the Seagulls able to grow it to 18 points heading into the final quarter.
Nathan Colenso kicked the first goal of the quarter to give his side a bit of space 10 minutes into the final quarter.
The Cats got one back, but the Seagulls had the answers as they scored another goal to ensure the win.
Colenso finished with three goals for the Seagulls and was their only multiple goalkicker.
Joel Fitzgerald had 32 disposals for the Seagulls, while Jake Greiser had 31.
The Seagulls are now 12th on the ladder with five wins for the year.
The Seagulls women had a hard fought win against the Western Bulldogs in the early game.
Scoring was hard to come by with the Seagulls winning 2.1 (13)-1.0 (6).
Megan Williamson and Emily Eaves had 19 disposals each for the Seagulls.
The Seagulls sit fourth on the ladder with five wins from seven games.
