Spotswood warmed up for the Western Region Football League women’s division 1 finals with a big win against Hoppers Crossing on Friday night.
With not much on the line for both sides, the match was for pride more than anything. Spotswood started off the stronger of the two teams and led by 22 points at quarter time. The side continued on, winning 9.15 (69)-0.1 (1).
Hannah McMahon kicked three goals for Spotswood, while Tamsyn Kirk chipped in with two. Chloe Weston-Sirett was named best on ground.
Spotswood will face Caroline Springs in the first week of the finals with a grand final spot on the line.
The other two matches in the final round of the season were both forfeits. Werribee Centrals and Caroline Springs took home the points against Yarraville Seddon and Manor Lakes respectively.
In the other final, Werribee Centrals will play Manor Lakes in a knockout semi final.
In division 2, Wyndhamvale took the points against Braybrook-Albanvale after the latter forfeited.
Laverton finished their season with a 9.1 (55)-3.7 (25).
Five goals in the second quarter was where the Magpies did all the damage.
Breannen Bingham and Shannon Blake kicked two goals.
Lydia Jenkins was named their best.
Jessica Mudie was the Roadrunners best.
Point Cook Centrals suffered a rare loss to Caroline Springs, with the Lakers winning, 4.4 (28)-0.4 (4).
The Lakers kicked three of their four goals in the first half to take control.
Point Cook Centrals will play West Footscray for a spot in the grand final in the first week of finals.
