It was a tough weekend for Yarraville Footscray in the Bowls Victoria weekend pennant premier division.

Facing a Deer Park side keen to get its first win of the season, Yarraville Footscray struggled to match it with last season’s runners-up.

Deer Park claimed all four rinks in the 95 (18)-47 (0) win at its home green.

For Yarraville Footscray, Brett Mahoney’s rink lost 25-12, Nelson Ball’s rink lost 23-11, Brendan Umbers rink lost 19-16 and Wayne Roberts rink lost 28-8.

Yarraville Footscray sit bottom after two rounds without a win.

Altona had to settle for a draw with Melbourne after their game was washed out. Both teams come away with nine points.

Altona faces Bundoora RSL this week, while Yarraville Footscray has the tough challenge against Melbourne.

There were washouts across all divisions, after heavy rain on Friday night and Saturday morning left many greens unplayable.

In division 1, section 2, Yarraville Footscray 2’s match with Mulgrave ended in a draw with the game washed out.

Both teams get nine points each.

In division 2, section 1, Altona Sports’ game with Werribee was washed out, leaving the two teams to share the points.

Yarraville Footscray 2 and Altona 2’s match was also washed out.

In division 3, section 1, the match between Williamstown and Yarraville Footscray 4 was washed out.

Newport had a big win against Werribee 2. Newport claimed all four rinks to win, 89 (18)-70 (0), its first win of the season.

Footscray Park was the unlucky team in division 4, section 1. With all other matches not being played due to the weather, Footscray Park was the only side to not come away with at least nine points.

It lost to Melton 3, 118 (17)-44 (1).
