20th Man Fund helps disadvantaged share Christmas joy

HOMELESS and disadvantaged families in Melbourne’s west will have a chance to join in Christmas festivities thanks to the 20th Man Fund.

Unwrapped Christmas gifts left at Le Pine Funerals in West Footscray will be wrapped and delivered to children at a special lunch at Lazy Moes in Maribyrnong on December 12.

Fund founder Les Twentyman said that with more than 600,000 disadvantaged children in Australia, many parents struggled just to provide basic necessities. “Times are tough and some children won’t be getting presents at Christmas unless we do something to help.”

Le Pine Funeral Services general manager John Fowler said collected gifts would go directly to families and children doing it tough. “It’s just about bringing some joy at Christmas to families on hard times.”

The donation continues a 20th Man Fund tradition since the early 1980s of providing Christmas presents to homeless children in the western suburbs.
