VIOLENCE against women is everybody’s business and we all have a role in making society safer. That’s the message of this Friday’s White Ribbon Day event at Nicholson Mall.
Maribyrnong Council and Western Region Health Centre have organised entertainment, a free barbecue lunch and a chance for people to discuss how to improve the safety of women in public and at home.
Mayor Catherine Cumming said domestic violence had devastating effects for women and children. “Our support of White Ribbon Day is an opportunity to stand against violence towards women.”
Other features include a light projection on the Town Hall, a Phoenix Youth Centre exhibition and hip-hop songs created to spread the White Ribbon Day message.
