Seymour collects best for free Altona gig

FORMER Hunters and Collectors frontman Mark Seymour (pictured) will perform some of his favourite love songs at Altona on Sunday.

The free gig at Logan Reserve is part of the Hobsons Bay Council summer music series.

Since Hunters and Collectors disbanded in 1998, Seymour has released eight solo albums.

“We’ve played over in the west a few times — not often — in Williamstown and Yarraville,” he says. “It’s a first for us in Altona, that’s for sure.”

Renowned for being a great live performer, Seymour says it’s his “bread and butter”.

“The show will be a mixed bag really . . . I’ve got a pretty long catalogue.”

Seymour will perform all the tracks off his new album, The Seventh Heaven Club.

His latest recording includes covers from his live set like Bob Dylan’s Can’t Wait, Jackson Browne’s Late for the Sky and Dave Dobbyn’s Beside You.

Mia Dyson performs at Commonwealth Reserve in Williamstown as part of the summer series on January 27, and the Kutcha Edwards Band will feature on February 3. All shows start at 2pm with a support act.
