Hobsons Bay councillor Tony Briffa last week obtained an intervention order from the Sunshine Magistrates’ Court against a man alleged to have been stalking the Altona ward representative for more than a year. Cr Briffa sought the order after receiving threatening and homophobic calls over 18 months from August, 2011.
The order makes it unlawful for the man to come within 200 metres or to contact Cr Briffa in a number of ways, or publish anything online about the councillor. The man is expected to contest the order at the same court in April.
