Reason behind the rhyme for Hobsons Bay win

IT’S not often a doctor is also regarded as a wordsmith, but it’s true of Preston’s Jeremy Broad, whose rhyme has won him the Hobsons Bay Discover Your Own Backyard competition.

His entry: “Beaches, cafes, bike paths and shops, Museums and restaurants, all short hops, Arriving from the city?

“Take a punt! Begin your Hobsons Bay treasure hunt . . .” came about after his mother alerted him to the competition and encouraged him to enter.

“It was quite a shock to win, absolutely amazing,” Dr Broad says.

The 25-year-old says Hobsons Bay is a beautiful area.

“Williamstown is picturesque with its historic buildings and galleries.

“Everyone is relaxed and friendly. Hobsons Bay residents are great people to get to know.”

Dr Broad has won accommodation at Quest Williamstown North and Captains Retreat B&B; a voucher for two people at Clay Skin and Body Salon Spa; two Lantern Ghost Tours; a one-hour family cruise on the Enterprize tall ship and a Museum Victoria membership; $100 dining vouchers for Mosaic, Fresh Chilli Thai, Ragusa and Duchess of Spotswood; and two double passes to two shows at Hobsons Bay Council’s annual Arts At Your Doorstep program.
