NINETY-seven-year-old Vera Dunscombe (pictured) was one of 30 volunteers from the Williamstown Hospital Opportunity Shop recognised for their tireless effort. The volunteers from the opp shop, including Vera’s daughter Dawn, last year raised $80,000 which went to painting wards and installing blinds to improve patients’ privacy. Western Health chief executive Alex Cockram hosted an afternoon tea last week to say thank you. “The time and effort the volunteers give is amazing and very much appreciated, not only by staff at Western Health but the wider Williamstown community.”
