THE urban landscape etchings and linocuts of Footscray artist Larissa MacFarlane are the latest local artwork to grace the Fordham Reserve Artdoor Gallery.
The gallery is a series of frames mounted on hoardings put up when the Footscray reserve was fenced off in September to make way for Regional Rail Link works.
MacFarlane, a keen cyclist, collects ideas for her detailed, witty and sometimes gloomy artworks as she pedals through local streets.
“I take inspiration from fragments of advertising billboards, real estate signs and obscurely numbered chemical storage tanks over our back fences,” she said.
The Regional Rail Link Footscray-Deer Park project team has meanwhile installed a touch-screen display at Footscray railway station featuring 3D animations of new station designs at Footscray, West Footscray, Tottenham and Sunshine stations.
General manager Steve Cornish said the kiosk was aimed at providing as much information as possible to the travelling public. The interactive kiosk is in the Footscray station waiting room between platforms 2 and 3.
The animations are also available on the RRL project website at regionalraillink.vic.gov.au
