Re: Briffa issues third public apology to bring costly row with Hemphill to end
CR Peter Hemphill owes the ratepayers of Hobsons Bay an apology for wasting tens of thousands of ratepayer dollars seeking an apology from Cr. Tony Briffa for standing up against a person who was working for Mobil and trying to get a toxic soil facility in Altona. A person who, at a public meeting, attacked Cr. Briffa in Cr Briffa’s absence.
The apology from Cr. Briffa is essentially the same as the last 3 or 4 previously given over the last 2 years, so why were all these legal expenses incurred?
I have witnessed Cr. Hemphill repeatedly attack Cr. Briffa in chambers about all sorts of issues over the last 4 years. It’s about time he either starts treating Cr. Briffa with respect or resigns. Councillors are elected to serve the community, not to play politics or to attack genuine, hard working councilors at ratepayers expense.

IT took $150,000 of our money for Cr Briffa to properly admit offending and embarrassing Maureen Short. When will Cr Briffa apologise for wasting our $150,000? Perhaps Cr Briffa ought to think about that instead of bragging about being the first intersex mayor in the press.
