FOOTSCRAY has powered to a 12-7 win against Eltham in the Lacrosse Victoria men’s state league.
The Scray fired in six goals in a third-quarter blitz to set up their big win. Chris Plumb was on target with four goals and two assists.
Daniel Stiglich scored a hat-trick and there were doubles for James Lawerson and Jack Mooney.
It was an important win for the Scray to keep touch with the top half of the ladder after losing their first game in the country round.
Williamstown cruised to an 18-5 win over Camberwell to stay on top after two rounds. The Fearons piled on 13 goals in the second and third quarters to run away with the game.
Aaron Lawman was unstoppable in front of the net for the Fearons with six goals, while Darren Nicholas fired in three.
In women’s state league, Newport hammered neighbours Williamstown 14-3 to make it three-from-three to start the season. The goals were spread out for the winners with Hayley Sofarnos leading the way with four.
Footscray enjoyed a double-your-score, 14-7, whipping of Eastside.
Sarah Mollison had the hot stick with five goals for the Scray.
