An artist-run creative hub in Footscray, at risk of closing, has been saved at the eleventh hour thanks to a crowd-funding campaign. Colour Box Studio reached its target with only hours to spare, raising $8535 through the Pozible website. The target was reached at last Tuesday night’s Keep Colour Box Studio Cranking event, initiated by Greens MP Colleen Hartland. It featured a wealth of musical talent including MC Kitty Bang and Natalie Pa’apa’a (pictured at centre) of Blue King Brown. Colour Box Studio director Amie Batalibasi said it was a great night of fun, creativity, music and community. The funding will support six months of exhibitions, workshops and other events.
