Street racing drivers caught in Newport

TWO drag-race drivers had their vehicles impounded after they were caught speeding in Newport on June 11.

It is believed the drivers were racing each other along Melbourne Road just before 9pm.

Hobsons Bay highway patrol members clocked the cars travelling at 113km/h and 111km/h in a 60km/h zone.

The
Mazda and Mitsubishi were intercepted near Newcastle Street and both
cars were immediately impounded under state hoon legislation.

A
21-year-old Wyndham Vale woman and a 20-year-old Seddon man are due to
be charged on summons with street racing, speeding, speed dangerous and
various other traffic related offences.
