Drug bust
Police conducting a traffic operation in Werribee on April 23 uncovered a small amount of drugs, believed to be for personal use, in a vehicle. A further search of the vehicle detected property, which police said they believed to be stolen. As a result, a 43-year-old Sunshine man was charged with going equipped to steal, handling stolen goods and possessing drugs.
Police charges
Brimbank police have arrested a Tarneit man following a series of thefts from pharmacies in the north-west. The 29-year-old man was arrested last month after an alleged theft at a pharmacy in St Albans. He was charged with several counts of shop theft, attempted shop theft and trafficking heroin, before being remanded to appear in court at a later date.
Clean up cash
Werribee MP Tim Pallas has announced Wyndham council will receive a $15,000 grant from the state government’s Litter Innovation Fund. The funding will help the council to tackle the issue of rubbish at construction sites. The council will liaise with building companies, developers and tradespeople to educate them about containing waste to worksites.
