Macedon continued its unbeaten season in the Riddell District Football League’s top division, dismantling Lancefield by 94 points on Saturday. Showing the gap in class between the ladder-leaders and the side sitting second last, Macedon piled on the agony all afternoon. The final score, 17.22 (124) – 4.6 (30) told the tale, as Cats forward Jason Cloke continued his strong season with six majors. The win keeps Macedon on top of the ladder.
Elsewhere, Riddell had an emphatic 81-point win over Melton Centrals to stay in touch of a finals spot. Bad kicking cost it a bigger win, but 16.16 (112) was far too good for Centrals’ 4.7 (31) across the day. Ben Sonogan grabbed four majors, while nine of his teammates also joined in the scoring.
Sunbury Kangaroos had to work hard to shake Woodend Hesket, but managed to pull away in the final term to register a 15.9 (99) – 7.9 (51) win. The Kangaroos led by nine points going into the last quarter, but slammed home six unanswered goals.

Sunbury United’s up and down season continued at the weekend, going down to Whittlesea United 3-1 in State League 3. Whittlesea grabbed the early ascendancy with two goals in the first half. Frustrations were on display for the home side as three players received yellow cards in the space of 20 minutes either side of half-time, but once settled Sunbury was able to get on the scoresheet via Ilija Manojlovic. Whittlesea restored its two goal buffer however and took the win.
